Ordering and shipping

Getting it to you

How long does delivery take?

Orders ship USPS Priority or First Class and typically arrive within 5 to 7 business days of you placing the order. You get tracking by email as soon as it goes out.

What does shipping cost?

Shipping is free on US orders over $35. Below that it is a flat $5.95. Three bags of coffee clears the threshold, so most orders ship free.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Yes. International orders are charged at USPS international rates, calculated at checkout. Any customs or import duties are the responsibility of the recipient.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Email us as soon as you can at whodatjava@gmail.com. If it has not shipped yet we can almost always sort it out. Once it is with USPS it is out of our hands.

Returns and problems

If something is not right

What if I don't like it?

If it is your first order with us and the coffee is not for you, we will refund it in full. No questions, and nothing to send back. We would rather you tried us with no risk.

What about after my first order?

Coffee and tea are perishable, so we cannot take returns on opened or unopened product after your first order. If something arrives damaged, that is a different matter and we will replace it.

My order arrived damaged. What do I do?

Contact us within 48 hours of delivery at whodatjava@gmail.com with a photo, and we will arrange an exchange. After 48 hours we are not able to process it, so please do check your box when it lands.

The coffee

Grinding, storing, brewing

Whole bean or ground?

Our flavored coffees ship ground and ready to brew. If you grind your own and would prefer whole bean, email us before ordering and we will tell you what we can do.

How should I store it?

Airtight container, cool dark cabinet, away from the stove. Not the fridge and not the freezer, both introduce moisture and moisture is what actually kills coffee. Use it within about a month of opening for the best of it.

How much coffee per cup?

Two tablespoons per six ounces of water is the standard starting point. Adjust from there to taste. It is your cup.

Are the flavored coffees sweetened?

No. The flavor is in the aroma and the taste of the brewed coffee, not from added sugar. They contain no calories and no sweetener. Add whatever you normally would.

Mushroom coffee and powders

The mushroom line

What actually is mushroom coffee?

Coffee blended with functional mushroom extracts such as lion's mane, chaga, reishi and cordyceps. People drink it for a smoother, steadier lift than straight coffee gives, usually with less of the jittery edge.

Does it taste like mushrooms?

No. It tastes like coffee. The extracts are earthy at most, and in a brewed cup you are tasting the roast.

How do I use the powders?

Stir a serving into hot water, coffee, tea or a smoothie. There is a serving guide on every pack.

The teas

Steeping them properly

Loose leaf or bags?

It varies by product, and each product page says which. The wellness blends are loose leaf.

How do I brew them?

Green and white teas prefer water just off the boil, around 175 to 185F, steeped 2 to 3 minutes. Black, herbal and chai blends take full boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes. Over-steeping green tea is the single most common reason a good tea tastes bitter.

Do the wellness teas contain caffeine?

The herbal blends are naturally caffeine free. Green, white, black and matcha products contain caffeine. Each product page tells you which you are looking at.

Our mission

What your order supports

What causes do you support?

Two. Parkinson's disease, which is why the company exists at all, and students at historically Black colleges and universities. A portion of our proceeds goes to both. The full story is on our About page.

Why is it called Who Dat Java?

"Who Dat" is the community, pure New Orleans. "Java" is the heart of it. Together they say we are all connected and we can all make a difference.
